Men's Tennis Heads South to San Diego All-College Tournament

San Diego, Calif. - Two Cal Bears head South this weekend to participate in the San Diego All-College Tournament, hosted by the University of San Diego, Oct. 18-20. Junior Wayne Wong is the tournament's No. 1-seed in the Flight 1 singles bracket while senior Kevin Patrick competes in Flight 2 singles competition. The tournament features a 32-player Flight 1 singles draw; a 32-player Flight 2 singles draw; and a 30-team doubles event.
Competition begins at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning, with Patrick squaring off against Fresno State's Dan O'Rourke in first-round action. If Patrick advances, he will face the winner between Michael Fricke (UCSB) and Justin Baylor (UCR) at 11:00 a.m., in the second round. Also at 11:00 a.m., Wong will hit the court in his first match of the tournament, facing Jeff Wilson of UC San Diego. Wong's next match would be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, competing against the winner between Gabe Coren (SDSU) and Jason Menke (Oregon).
Players from the University of Arizona, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Oregon, Pepperdine, San Diego State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, and USD will compete in the three-day event. The finals for both singles flights will be played on Sunday beginning at 9:00 a.m.; the doubles championship will follow.
