Stanford Announces Dates For 2002 Holiday Baseball Instruction

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford Baseball has announced dates for its 2002 holiday baseball instruction sessions for ages 12-18 to be held at Sunken Diamond. All sessions will be conducted by members of the Stanford Baseball coaching staff that has led the Cardinal to the College World Series for a school record four consecutive years, as well as additional college coaches.
The first set of sessions will run November 29-December 1 (Friday-Sunday) over the Thanksgiving weekend. The next two groups of sessions will be conducted during Christmas vacation with the first set taking place December 21-23 (Saturday-Monday) before the instruction period concludes with a final group of sessions December 27-29 (Friday-Sunday).
Each set of dates will include five separate instructional sessions. Tuition is $125.00 per session and players may sign up for more than one session. Camps will be held rain or shine.
Hitting sessions will take place in the morning (9:00-11:00 am) and afternoon (1:30-3:30 pm) with the program emphasis covering all areas of hitting and bunting. Additional instruction will feature learning the finer points of hitting, including the proper use of teaching aids, mental approaches, techniques for developing more power and bat speed, plus much more.
Pitching sessions will take place each day from 11:00 am-1:00 pm and 1:30-3:30 pm. The program emphasis will be on all phases of the pitching delivery, including the mental approach, grips, fielding and pickoffs. Every participant will be videotaped and reviewed by a member of the coaching staff.
A session of defensive training for position players will be held from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. The program emphasis will include the fundamentals of infield, outfield and catcher play. Drills to improve both fielding and throwing skills will also be taught.
Registrants should provide their own bat (hitting camp only), glove, cap, shoes, catching gear (if applicable) and suitable baseball attire.
The hitting sessions will be limited to 30 players each, while the pitching sessions will accept 20 registrants each. The defensive camps will take 20 infielders, 20 outfielders and six catchers per session.
