Cardinal Women Tied For Fifth At Stanford Pepsi Invitational

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford women's golf team shot a 303 in the first round of the Stanford Pepsi Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course and are tied for fifth overall. UCLA (293) holds a two stroke lead over Washington (295) after round one. Rounding out the top five are California (296), Vanderbilt (302), Stanford (303) and Georgia (303).

New Mexico State's Alena Sharp, Vikki Laing from California, Kelly Froelich from Georgia and Vanderbilt's Courtney Wood share the early individual lead carding a one-under 71 today. Two players are tied for fifth at an even-par 72 - Washington's Louise Friberg and UCLA's Yvonne Choe.

Sophomore Wendra Liang led the Cardinal, shooting a two-over par 74 today to tie for 11th. Freshman Kelly Husted is tied for 19th wtih a 75 along with teammate Kim Kouwabunpat. Freshman Stephanie Lue, competing as an individual, is tied for 30th with a 77 on the afternoon. Junior Angela Rho is tied for 43rd after the first round with a 79 while senio Kim Rowton checks in tied for 59th with an 80.

Second round action at the Stanford Pepsi Invitational continues tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. from the first and second tees. The Cardinal will begin teeing off at 8:45 a.m. from the first tee.
