No. 24 Cal In Second After Two Rounds of Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD - No. 24 California moved from third to second place after two rounds of the highly competitive Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate after firing a 295 Saturday at the Stanford Golf Course. The Golden Bears' two-day score of 591 is only two strokes behind No. 12 Washington (589) with one round remaining.

Rounding out the Top 5 at the 17-team tournament are No. 2 Vanderbilt (595), No. 32 UCLA (596) and No. 20 Georgia (599).

Senior Vikki Laing continued to lead Cal with an even-par 72 on Saturday, putting her in a tie for second with a career-best 143 for 36 holes. New Mexico State's Alena Sharp also is at 143. Arizona's Erica Blasberg holds a one-shot lead thanks to a tournament-low 69 today.

The Bears have three other golfers in the Top 20 overall. Junior Claire Dury is tied for 12th at 148 following a round of 73 today. Senior Ria Quiazon holds a share of 16th at 150, and junior Anna Temple, who is competing as an indiviudal, is tied for 20th (151). The Bears have yet to shoot a round higher than 79 through 36 holes.

The final round of the event kicks off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
