Brooke Thomas Leads Women's Cross Country To Fourth Place At Long Beach State Invitational

Long Beach, Calif. - Junior Brooke Thomas ran the 5,000-meters in 17:44 to place third and lead the USC women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish on Saturday at the Long Beach State Invitational.
USC placed two runners in the top 10 and four in the top 28 and finished with a total of 88 points. The Women of Troy were actually third among univerities behind Southern Utah (77) and San Diego State (85). Fila Track West won with 35 points.
For USC, Thomas was third (17:44), Danielle Morrell was ninth (18:27), Kate Pinta was 25th (19:08), Harlye Maya was 28th (19:14), Kate Neeper was 34th (19:41), Rae Stumbough 2as 35th (19:50), Jaszmin Treadway was 37th (19:53), Meghan Mainwaring was 19:55 (19:55), Holly Peters was 39th (19:56), Crystal Becker (20:18), Jessica Cuevas was 50th (20:26), Laura Strachan was 61st (20:55), Gina Clayton was 74th (21:40) and Guiselle Torres was 78th (22:02).
The Women of Troy are next in action at the Pac-10 Championships in Pasadena, Calif., on Nov. 2.
