Cal Fourth After Two Rounds of Barona Collegiate Cup

The California men's golf team stands in fourth place after two rounds of the Barona Collegiate Cup, hosted by the San Diego Aztecs at the Barona Creek Golf Course in Lakeside, CA. The Golden Bears fired rounds of 283 and 286 for a seven-under par 569 in the two-day 16-team tournament.

Cal's Peter Tomasulo, ranked No. 24 by Golfstat, checked in with rounds of 66 and 69 after day one for a nine-under par 135 to tie for first place with Denver's Shawn Wills (67-68).

In first place is Denver, 17 strokes below par (559), followed by a second place tie between host San Diego and Brigham Young with twin cards of 565. Entering the third and final round in the fifth slot is University of New Mexico, one stroke behind Cal with a 36-hole total of 570.

Freshman Michael Wilson is tied for 31st place for the 33rd-ranked Bears, with rounds of 66 and 69 (135). J.r. Ruda, Jeff Hood and Eric West are in a nine-way tie for 42nd with a two-over par 146.

The final round is tomorrow, Tuesday Oct. 22.
