OSU Looks To Stay Perfect At Home Against No. 4 UCLA, Fresno State

LAST ACTION: Oregon State earned its first win ever in an 18-game series with Washington by a count of 3-2 on Sunday. Matt Johnson provided the game-winner with his first career goal in the 65th minute when he followed his own rebounded shot and put it away for the score. Joe Zaher gave OSU the early advantage with a goal off a free-kick at 5:26, but UW's Dayo Oyetuga leveled the score at 1-1 seven minutes later.The teams traded goals before the end of the first half, with Alan Gordon giving OSU a brief 2-1 adavantage at 15:13 and UW's Brett Weisner tying it in the 27th minute at 2-2. The defenses tightened in the second half, with Johnson's goal the only score.
A LOOK AT UCLA: The Bruins (8-1-2 overall, 3-0-0 Pacific-10) ride a three-game win streak into the weekend - the most notable win being a 1-0 overtime decision over then-No. 1 Stanford on Oct. 18. The Bruins have also topped Pac-10 foes Fresno State (2-1) and California (2-1) during the streak. Against top-25 competition, UCLA has a 2-1-2 mark, with the win over Stanford and No. 11 San Diego (3-1), a tie with then-No. 1 St. Johns (0-0) and No. 13 Rutgers (1-1), and a loss to No. 17 Loyola Marymount (2-0). Tim Pierce leads the Bruin attack with 17 points on six goals and five assists while Zach Wells has a 0.69 goals-against average.
OSU HISTORY WITH UCLA: OSU has won the last two meetings in Corvallis by scores of 2-1 in 2000 and 1-0 last year. UCLA owns a 7-2-0 series advantage, and won the meeting in Los Angeles last year 1-0.
A LOOK AT FRESNO STATE: The Bulldogs (3-6-4, 0-2-1) enter the weekend winless in their last five matches, but have earned ties in that span with Sacramento State (1-1) and, most recently, then-No. 1 Stanford (0-0) on Oct. 20. Fresno State has totaled only 11 goals in 13 games, but has surrendered just 15. Kupono Low, Joshua LeRoy, and Marvin Sorte lead the Bulldogs with five points each, while Jeremy Proud has played every minute in goal (1,260) and has served up a 1.07 goals-against average while making 52 saves.
OSU HISTORY WITH FRESNO STATE: The Beavers are 0-4-0 lifetime against the Bulldogs, but the teams have not played since 1995, when FSU took a 4-0 win in Fresno.
