Coming off a 1-0 overtime win over No. 1 STANFORD (11-2-1 overall, 2-1-1 Pac-10), the UCLA Bruins (8-1-2, 3-0-0) remain unbeaten in Pac-10 play heading into the third week of league action... No. 4/No. 5 UCLA travels to the Pacific Northwest this week, with tilts at OREGON STATE (10-3-0, 1-2-0) and WASHINGTON (3-6-3, 0-3-0)... The Beavers are hungry for another Pac-10 win, coming off their first-ever win over Washington... Oregon State has won eight of its last 10 contests... The Huskies and FRESNO STATE (3-6-4, 0-2-1) are still searching for their first win against a Pac-10 opponent... FRAZELLE NAMED PAC-10 PLAYER OF WEEK
UCLA senior midfielder Jimmy Frazelle has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 15-21.
Frazelle, from Folsom, Calif., helped then-No. 6 UCLA to a pair of Pac-10 wins last week, as the Bruins defeated No. 1 Stanford 1-0 in overtime and downed California 2-1. Against the top-ranked Cardinal on Oct. 20, Frazelle scored the game-winner in the second minute of overtime. It was his fourth goal on the season, his third game-winner and second consecutive game-winner. On Oct. 18, UCLA snapped the 13th-ranked Golden Bears' school-record nine-game win streak.
Unbeaten in its last six games, UCLA is 8-1-2 overall, 3-0-0 in Pac-10 play. The Bruins travel to Oregon State and Washington this weekend. UCLA is No. 4 in this week's NSCAA/adidas poll and is ranked No. 5 by Soccer America.
This is the first weekly honor for Frazelle and the 12th all-time Player of the Week honor for UCLA.

CALIFORNIA: The Bears' won their school-record ninth consecutive game Oct. 18 at Fresno State, breaking the previous mark of eight straight games set by the 1986 squad. The victory also marked the first for Cal against the Bulldogs since 1983, snapping a 13-match unbeaten streak by Fresno State in the series. Cal fell to UCLA 2-1 on Oct. 20, bringing an end to its record streak. Sophomore Angel Quintero tallied a goal and an assist on the weekend.
FRESNO STATE: The Bulldogs played Stanford to a scoreless tie before 2,004 fans Oct. 20 in Fresno. The Cardinal held a 2-0 advantage in shots during overtime periods, but GK Jeremy Proud finished with four saves on the day. Fresno State fell 1-0 to California, its first loss to the Bears since 1983. The Bulldogs will try for their first Pac-10 win in the Northwest, taking on Washington and Oregon State this weekend.
OREGON STATE: The Beavers moved into the points column with a 3-2 win over Washington, their first-ever over the Huskies. OSU was 0-16-1 versus UW heading into the contest. Freshman F Matt Johnson scored his first career goal - the game-winner - in the 65th minute. The Beavers host UCLA and Fresno State this weekend.
STANFORD: The top-ranked Cardinal were held winless last week, falling to UCLA 1-0 in overtime and playing Fresno State to a scoreless tie. In the loss to UCLA, Stanford held a slight 10-6 shot advantage after regulation. Against the Bulldogs, Matt Janusz led the Cardinal with four shots, while James Twellman added three. Andrew Terris played all 110 minutes in goal for Stanford, recording two saves.
UCLA: The sole remaining unbeaten team in Pac-10 play, the Bruins upset top-ranked Stanford 1-0 in overtime and defeated California 2-1. Against the Cardinal, senior Jimmy Frazelle notched the golden goal 1:47 into the extra period. With the win, UCLA improved to 4-1-1 against No. 1-ranked teams since 1998. The Bruins remain unbeaten against the Cardinal in the last four games. Against Cal, the UCLA defense withstood six second-half shots and six second-half corner kicks to keep the Bears off the boards.
WASHINGTON: With the loss to Oregon State, Washington dropped its third straight Pac-10 contest and remains winless in Conference play. The Huskies get their next chance against Fresno State and UCLA, who visit Seattle Friday and Sunday, respectively. Senior Dan Oyetuga and sophomore Brett Wiesner scored for UW. It was Oyetuga's fourth goal of the season.
