Sam Warburg Advances To Quarterfinals At The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational

MIDLAND, Tex. - Sophomore Sam Warburg (Sacramento, CA) opened his 2002-03 season with a pair of straight set wins on Friday at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational.
Warburg, who was 27-10 as a freshman, opened the 32-play singles main draw with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Baylor's Reiner Neuhror. The fifth-seeded Warburg then breezed to a 6-3, 6-3 second round win over Khaled El dorry of Texas A&M. Warburg will face Tryston Meniane of North Carolina in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 6:30 a.m. (Pacific Time).
The Cardinal's other entry in the weekend event --- senior Carter Morris (Washington, D.C.) --- dropped a three-set heartbreaker in the first round. Morris fell to Diedrick DeGroot of Texas Tech 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
