Women's Basketball To Hold Black vs. Orange Scrimmage Saturday
Oct. 23, 2002
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State's women's basketball team will hold a Black vs. Orange scrimmage on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Gill Coliseum. The scrimmage, which will take place after OSU's football game against California, is open to the public.
The Beavers return seven players from last season's squad that finished 17-15 overall and reached the postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament for the second consecutive year. Honorable mention All-Pac-10 performer Leilani Estavan heads the list of returners after leading the conference in assist-turnover ratio the last two years. Estavan will be joined in the backcourt by sophomore speedster Juleen Smith who garnered honorable mention All-Pac-10 Freshman honors a year ago. Junior forward Hollye Chapman is the team's leading returning scorer (9.5 ppg.) and rebounder (5.3 rpg.).
OSU opens the 2002-03 campaign with an exhibition game against Horsholm BBC of Denmark on November 7.
