Cal Falls to Oregon State, 3-0

The University of California (14-6, 4-6) lost to Oregon State (7-12, 2-8), 3-0 (24-30, 26-30, 31-33), Friday night at Haas Pavilion.The Golden Bears' top player, sophomore Mia Jerkov, left early in the third game and did not return. Jerkov was sidelined earlier in the week due to an ankle injury. The Golden Bears played well in her absence, tying the third game at 29 points, but were unable to secure a win.

Cal was led by senior Leah Young who registered 13 kills and six digs on the night. Junior Caity Noonan led the Bears with 11 digs and also notched four service aces. Jerkov and freshman Jenna Brown added nine kills apiece.

Oregon State had two players with double-digits in kills, as freshman Karah Rhoades had a match-high 16 kills for a .367 hitting percentage and sophomore Allison Lawrence registered 15 kills. Junior Laura Collins led the Beavers will 11 digs, while senior Nikki Neuburger and junior K.C. Frederick added eight digs apiece.

Cal will next host Oregon, Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.
