Collins Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON STATE setter Laura Collins has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 21-Oct. 27, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Collins, a junior from Milwaukee, Wis., tallied 106 assists (13.25 apg) and 17 digs (2.12 dpg) on .323 hitting with nine kills over the weekend. In a 3-0 win over California on the road, she had 49 assists and a match-high 11 digs, her fifth double-double of the year. She also tied her career-high with three service aces. In a 3-2 loss to Stanford, she dished out 57 assists and hit .467 with a season-high eight kills.
The Beavers (7-13, 2-9 in Pac-10) swept Cal on the road for the first time, and lost 3-2 to Stanford, but won their first game versus the Cardinal on the road since 1993.
This is the second weekly honor for Collins, Oregon State's 10th Player of the Week honor all-time.
