Men's Tennis Doubles Team Wins Region VIII-South Championship

TEMPE, Ariz. - The sixth-seeded Arizona State men's tennis tandem of Olivier Charroin and Chris Stewart defeated No. 5 seed Diego Acuna and Calle Hansen of Pepperdine in the doubles final by an 8-2 count to take home the title at the Omni Hotels Region VIII-South Championships hosted by Pepperdine.
Charroin and Stewart, both juniors, advanced to the title match with an 8-4 semifinal round win over Leopold Graeubig and Michael Wojnarowicz of Loyola Marymount. The pair won all five of their matches to take home the championship.
In the consolation singles draw, Charroin also advanced to the championship before Chris Surapol of UCLA won the consolation title by an 8-6 score.
With their title, Charroin and Stewart have earned a spot in the Omni Hotels National Indoor Championships scheduled for November 7-10 at the Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas, near Dallas.
