Food Drive Continues At Civil War Volleyball
Oct. 29, 2002
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State's student-athletes will continue their 2002-03 Food Drive on Friday, when the Beavers play host to Oregon in Pacific-10 volleyball at 7 p.m. Fans are asked to bring two cans of food or make a minimum donation at the Gill Coliseum entries; as a token of thanks, fans will receive a coupon good for a free small popcorn at the coliseum concession stand, courtesy of Sodexho Marriott.
OSU will be trying to break 3,000 in attendance that night and set a school record for the biggest crowd for a volleyball match.
OSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has already gathered 16,580 pounds of food this fall in its second annual food drive; the goal is to gather 20,000 pounds for Linn-Benton Food Share by the end of the school year. Adam Daniel, a wrestler who is the SAAC Community Involvement chairman this year, thanked Beaver fans for their help in getting this year's food drive off to a strong start.
After Friday, there will be one more opportunity for Oregon State fans to help with the food drive this fall - at the Beavers' men's soccer game against Washington on Nov. 10.
The SAAC is an organization with representatives from all 15 of Oregon State's varsity sports. The group wants to show its appreciation for the support it receives from the community by organizing projects to help those in need of assistance.
