Liz Bogus Named Pac-10 Soccer Player Of The Week
Oct. 29, 2002
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Arizona State freshman forward Elizabeth Bogus has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 22-28, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. This is the second Pac-10 Player of the week honor this month for Bogus as she earned the award on October 1 as well. Bogus also becomes ASU's first multiple Pac-10 honoree.
Bogus, a native of Sandy, Utah, tallied two of ASU's three goals - both game-winners - and added one assist as the 24th-ranked Sun Devils swept the Oregon schools on the road.
Against Oregon State Bogus' goal in the 20th minute of action was all that was needed as they posted their sixth shutout of the year with a 1-0 victory.
Against Oregon Bogus tacked on her team-leading ninth goal and eventual game-winner in the 57th minute that sealed the win for the Devils and gave Bogus her seventh game-winner of the year, tying former three-time All-American Stacey Tullock for the single-season best in ASU history. Bogus continues to lead the team with nine goals and 21 points.
ASU (10-3-2, 3-2-0), which is ranked 17th in Soccer America's current Top-25 poll and 24th in the NSCAA/adidas poll, hosts Washington State and Washington on Fri., Nov. 1 and Sun., Nov. 3, respectively.
