Despite wins by sophomores Kaitlin Sandeno and Blythe Hartley and junior Jana Krohn, No. 7 USC's women's swimming and diving team was edged on the meet's final relay by No. 8 Texas, 177-176, as the two-day dual meet was completed on Saturday (Nov. 2) at the Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin, Texas.
USC led heading into the final 400y free relay, but Texas took the top two spots to secure the win.
Sandeno won the 1650y free in 16:31.48 and was followed to the wall by senior co-captain Asa Sandlund, who was second in 16:38.61. Sandeno also secured a pair of seconds in the 200y IM (2:01.53) and the 200y fly (2:00.66).
Krohn won the 200y fly in 1:59.95. Along with Sandeno's second and freshman Margie Pedder's 2:00.98, USC went 1-2-3 in the event.
Hartley, who won the 3-meter on Friday, won the 1-meter on Saturday with 319.80 points. Sophomore Nicci Fusaro was second (280.65).
