Wildcats Can't Get Things Going Against Beavers

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Steven Jackson ran for 134 yards and two touchdownsas Oregon State dealt Arizona its fifth straight loss Saturday, 38-3.

Derek Anderson passed for 239 yards and a score for Oregon State (6-3, 2-3Pac-10), which won its second straight after losing three in a row.

Arizona (3-6, 0-5), which remained the only winless team in thePac-10, had minus-23 yards rushing and 93 yards overall. Bobby Gill kicked a43-yard field goal with 1:02 left in the third quarter, and that was it for theWildcats.

The Beavers had 457 total yards.

Jackson, who entered the game ranked closely behind Oregon's Onterrio Smithfor the Pac-10 rushing lead, put up 119 yards in the first half alone for hissixth 100-yard game this season.

After Anderson scored on a 1-yard keeper, he hit James Newson for an 86-yardscoring pass to put Oregon State ahead 21-0. Anderson completed 12 of 28passes.

Arizona's Jason Johnson was 14-of-28 for 105 yards, but he was sacked fivetimes.

Jackson ran for another 1-yard score, and the Beavers took a 28-0 lead intohalftime. The Beavers held the Wildcats to minus-22 yards rushing in the firsthalf. Arizona came in ranked 115th in the nation in rushing offense, at 60yards a game.

Four games into the season, Arizona lost Clarence Farmer, last season'sPac-10 rushing champion, with a knee injury. His replacements - redshirtfreshman Mike Bell and freshman Beau Carr - have struggled this season.

Arizona also struggled in the air against Oregon State. Bobby Wade caughtfour passes for 34 yards, as the Beavers' defense double-covered him for muchof the game. He had been averaging 117.5 yards.

The Beavers have won their last four against Arizona, including last year's38-3 blowout at Reser Stadium.

The Beavers, already out of the Pac-10 race, are struggling to keep theirbowl hopes alive. Last weekend against California, Jackson ran for acareer-high 239 yards in Oregon State's 24-13 victory.
