Trojan Diving Invitational Begins Thursday
Nov. 6, 2002
Two-time 2002 NCAA individual diving champion Blythe Hartley and 2002 All-American teammate Nicci Fusaro will headline the Trojan Diving Invitational from Thursday to Saturday (Nov. 9-11) at the McDonald's Swim Stadium on the USC campus.
Among the schools that will compete in the meet in addition to USC are California, Stanford, UCLA, UC Irvine, San Diego State, San Diego and Fresno State.
Thursday's events include the women's 1-meter springboard and the men's three-meter springboard. Friday's events feature women's 3-meter springboard and men's 1-meter springboard. Saturday's events include men's and women's platform. Competition begins at 10 a.m. each day.
Competing on campus for the first time since the 2002 NCAA Championships, Hartley, a sophomore, continues her quest to repeat as the NCAA 1-meter and platform champion. Fusaro, like Hartley, was a three-time All-American last year. The pair were USC's first women's divers ever to earn All-American honors in each diving specialty in one meet.
USC's men's squad is led by redshirt sophomore Ray Vincent, who missed last season while recovering from shoulder surgery. In his first action of the season, he won the 3-meter springboard at Texas last weekend.
Final results will be faxed at the end of competition each day and will be posted on www.usctrojans.com.
