Women's Basketball Nonconference Schedule Strength Among the Best
Nov. 6, 2002
EUGENE, Ore. - The WBCA/Summerville preseason RPI ranks the University of Oregon women's basketball team's nonconference schedule as the sixth toughest in the nation.
The Ducks' nine nonconference opponents had a combined 179-91 (.663) record a year ago. Six of Oregon's foes - Boston College, BYU, Santa Clara, South Carolina, TCU and Wisconsin-Green Bay - were in the 2002 NCAA Tournament. Overall, the Ducks' preseason schedule strength, including Pac-10 games, came in at No. 47.
Tennessee had the nation's most difficult nonconference slate, followed by USC, Stephen F. Austin, TCU and North Carolina State.
The WBCA/Summerville RPI can be found on the WBCA website at www.wbca.org/rpi.asp throughout the season. The RPI compares how each NCAA Division I team ranks in terms of its performance versus its schedule.
Oregon begins the 2002-03 season with exhibition games Saturday at 5 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The Ducks open the regular season at home Nov. 22 against Gonzaga.
