TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State soccer player Amy LePeilbet was one of 12 players named to the Verizon Soccer Academic All-American First-Team for District VIII, announced Thursday. The selection, the first of her career, now makes her eligible for national Academic All-American consideration.
LePeilbet, a junior defender from Crystal Lake, Illinois, holds a 3.84 grade-point average in sociology. LePeilbet, the team's top defender, has played a major role in ASU's nationally ranked program. Starting in all 17 matches, she has helped ASU to a current 11-4-2 record with six shutouts, including five straight to tie the school record.
Additionally, LePeilbet and the rest of the Sun Devils have held opponents to only 15 goals (0.84 goals-against average/third in the Pac-10) which is on track to break the school record of 23. LePeilbet is also a member of the U-21 National Team and has scored two goals and posted one assist this year.
To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have reached at least sophomore status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have at least a 3.20 GPA.
