Three Ducks Head to USTA Futures Tournament

Nov. 7, 2002

EUGENE, Ore. - No. 63-ranked Manuel Kost, Sven Swinnen and Oded Teig will compete at the USTA Futures Tournament in Costa Mesa, Calif., beginning Friday. The competition will include some of the better players in the country and should provide another strong test for the three Ducks.

'This is a great opportunity to expose some of our guys to the next level,' head coach Chris Russell said. 'This is the kind of competition we'll see on a regular basis in the Pac-10.'

Kost, Swinnen and Teig all competed at the ITA All-American Championships earlier during the fall season. Teig is coming off an impressive showing at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, where he won both of his matches.

Draws will be made at the tournament. Swinnen and Teig might play together in doubles, but it will not be certain until the players arrive at the competition.
