Two Men's Soccer Players Tabbed For Academic All-Region First Team

The selection is the second such honor for McHardy, and the first for Billmeyer.
To be considered for selection, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.20, be a starter or significant reserve that has played in at least 50 percent of his team's games, and be at least a sophomore.
McHardy and Billmeyer are now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America team, which will be announced Monday, Nov. 25.
Both majoring in Business, McHardy carries a 3.66 GPA and Billmeyer a 3.35.
McHardy, a senior midfielder from Vancouver, British Columbia, was a first-team Academic All-District VIII selection last year as a junior, and was a Pac-10 All-Academic first team member as well. Also as a junior, he was a NSCAA first-team Scholar All-American and second-team All-Pac-10 honoree.
McHardy ranks fourth on OSU's all-time points list with 48, and is third in goals scored. Among McHardy's off-the-field accomplishments, he was selected to attend the NCAA Leadership Foundation Conference in 2001.
The all-region honor is the first for Billmeyer, who was a second-team Pac-10 All-Academic selection as a sophomore in 2001. A junior this year, he earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 each of his first two seasons.
Billmeyer, from Omaha, Neb., holds the OSU record for saves in a season with 97, which he set last year. The team co-captain also ranks among the career leaders in saves and shutouts.
