Husky Duo To Compete In National Indoors Doubles Final Saturday

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas- Washington's Claire Carter and Darija Klaic picked up a semifinal win Friday night in women's doubles at the 2002 Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas. The pair will play for a national indoor title Saturday.
Carter and Klaic defeated Christina Fusano and Raquel Kops-Jones from Cal, 8-4, for the second time this season. The All-American Husky duo will face Jenny Kuhn and Julie Smekodub from Tulane in the final Saturday. The championship doubles match will take place at 3 p.m. CT. Carter and Klaic are the first Husky women to ever reach a national doubles final.
The tournament features a 32-player singles field and 16-team doubles field for men and women, including: qualifiers from Omni Hotels Regional Championships held across the country during October, the Omni Hotels National Small College champions, the winners of the Icy Hot/ITA Men's and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships and at-large and wild card selections made by the ITA National Tournament Committee.
