No. 4 Bruins Beat Washington, 2-1

Seattle - Kim Devine and Sarah-Gayle Swanson each netted goals Friday evening, propelling the No. 4 UCLA women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Washington in a Pac-10 Conference match at the Husky Soccer Field in Seattle. With the victory, UCLA improves to 15-3 overall and 7-1 in the Pac-10. Washington Falls to 8-8-3 overall and 3-4-1 in conference action.
Bruin junior Sarah-Gayle Swanson, who hadn't played in the Bruins' last five matches after injuring her ankle against Stanford back on Oct. 13, made a successful return to the lineup, scoring what proved to be the game winner in the 71st minute. Swanson put in a header from about 10 yards out with assists credited to Stacy Lindstrom and Kendal Billingsley.
Prior to that goal, Bruin sophomore Kim Devine put UCLA ahead 1-0 on an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute.
Though the Bruins were ahead 2-0, Washington cut the lead to one in the 81st minute on a goal by Sara Davis. The UCLA defense however, was able to hold the Huskies scoreless for the remaining nine minutes to preserve the victory.
UCLA now takes a six-match winning streak into its' final contest of the regular season against Washington State this Sunday.
