Carter, Klaic Fall In Doubles Final At National Indoors
Nov. 9, 2002
Carter and Klaic, first Husky women to ever reach a national doubles final, fell to Tulane's Jenny Kuhn and Julie Smekodub, 8-5. The Tulane team jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Carter and Klaic battled back to tie the match at 5-5. From there, Tulane reeled off the last three games.
Eleventh-ranked Carter and Klaic fall to 7-3 this season with the loss. They were also the doubles runner-up at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships Oct. 28, falling in the final to Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette from Stanford. The Husky pair earned All-America honors last year, becoming the only UW women's doubles team to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals.
