All Three OSU Women's Boats Finish In Top Four
Nov. 10, 2002
SEATTLE, Wash. - Oregon State's women's crew wrapped up the fall season with a strong showing at the Head of the Lake Regatta Sunday morning in Seattle.
OSU's varsity eight took third place, finishing the 4,800-meter course in 17 minutes, 14.03 seconds. Stanford won the race with a time of 16:57.80, and Washington took second in 17:11.98.
'We are really pleased with the way the women rowed today,' Oregon State coach Charlie Owen said. 'The first varsity eight went out and rowed a good race. Two seconds is by far the closest we've been to Washington at Head of the Lake. Washington is very good, so it shows that we are on the right track with what we've been doing.'
In the second varsity eight race, OSU placed third behind Washington and Washington State. The Beavers finished with a time of 18:08.98.
Oregon State's third varsity eight placed fourth with a time of 18:59.46. First-place Washington State completed the course in 18:34.73.
'Overall it was a successful fall season,' Owen said. 'I hope we can keep this momentum going through the winter because we are on track to be very competitive in the spring.'
