Bruin Cross Country to Compete at NCAA West Regional Qualifiers

On Saturday, November 16, the UCLA women's cross country team will compete at the NCAA West Regional Qualifiers, held at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, CA.
In the FinishLynx NCAA Division I women's cross country, as of November 5, the Bruins were ranked No. 23 in the nation. At the Pac-10 Championships, held November 2, UCLA placed fourth and was paced by junior Lena Nilsson, the defending NCAA Outdoor 1500m champion, who placed third individually. Sophomore Alejandra Barrientos, who placed ninth at the Pac-10 Championships, is also expected to lead the Bruins at the Regional Qualifiers.
At last year's NCAA Regional Qualifiers, the Bruin women were paced by then-sophomore Valerie Flores (23rd overall) and placed fifth as a team, qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
The 2003 NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held Monday, November 25, in Terre Haute, IN.
