UA Women's Basketball Coach Bonvicini to Miss Exhibition Game

Nov. 14, 2002

TUCSON, Ariz. (Nov. 14) - University of Arizona women's basketball head coach Joan Bonvicini will not be on the sidelines for the Wildcats' exhibition game against Team Concept on Sunday, Nov. 17. In response to her brother's illness, Bonvicini is returning home to Connecticut for the weekend to spend time with her family. She will rejoin the Cats on Monday.

Associate head coach Denise Dove Ianello, with the aid of assistant coaches Kellee Barney and Curtis Loyd, will coach the Wildcats during Sunday's game.

Now in her 24th season of coaching, Bonvicini has missed just one game prior to this - the first contest of the Wildcats' 1997 summer tour in Australia. She was unable to coach in that game because the team doctor quarantined her after she came down with strep throat.
