Leddy And Anglin Named To Academic All-District Team

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State volleyballplayers Julia Leddy and Cheryl Anglin were among the student-athletesnamed to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District VIII Women'sVolleyball team announced last week.
Leddy, a senior middle blocker from Mesa with a 3.75 GPA inElementary Education was named to the second team. Leddy has been atwo-time Pac-10 All-Academic selection and was a member of theDistrict VIII All-Academic team last year as well. Leddy is leadingthe Sun Devils with a .358 hitting percentage and has tallied 10 ormore kills in 15 of ASU's 21 matches.
Anglin, a junior setter from Queen Creek with a 3.65 GPA as a nursingmajor, was a third-team selection after earning All-Pac-10 Academichonorable mention last year. Anglin is having another solid year asthe Devils starting setter, averaging 9.28 assists per game and isranked second in ASU history with 3,323 career assists.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-America honors, astudent-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade pointaverage (on a 4.0 scale), must be a starter or an important reserveand be in at lest their second season of competition at their currentschool. A total of 80 eligible student-athletes, including six fromArizona State, were nominated by 32 different schools on the DistrictVIII ballot. Members of CoSIDA in the states of California, Arizona,Hawai'i, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Utah wereresponsible for the voting.
