Nov. 19, 2002

TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Tierra Burnley, a 5-11 middle blocker from Santa Clarita, Calif., has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball next year for Arizona State University head coach Patti Snyder-Park announced Monday. Burnley selected ASU over Miami (Fla.).

Burnley, who attends Valencia High School in Valencia, Calif., and is a three-year member of Thunder Volleyball Club, was named first-team all-league in 2001 and 2002. Burnley plans to major in pre law at Arizona State.

'We are excited to bring in such an athletic recruit who will really be able to benefit this program,' said Snyder-Park. 'The new coaching staff will have a great athlete to work with who can play a number of positions on the court.'

With Snyder-Park retiring at the end of the season after 14 years at the helm of the Sun Devils, the current coaching staff elected to leave two scholarships for the incoming coach.
