Volleyball Sweeps Oregon, 3-0

Eugene, Ore. -- Senior outside hitter Paige Benjamin (Redmond, Wash.) and sophomore Sanja Tomasevic (Uzice, Yugoslavia) paced Washington with nearly 75 percent of its kills en route to a 3-0 romp over Oregon (30-18, 30-18, 30-19). The win improves the Huskies' record to 17-10 overall and 9-9 in the Pac-10, while the Ducks drop to 11-21 overall and 1-17 in conference play.
Benjamin tallied 20 kills while Tomasevic posted 17 of the Huskies 52 kills this evening. The duo also joined freshman libero Candace Lee (Eugene, Ore.) on the defensive front. Lee recorded a match-high 11 digs, while Tomasevic added 10 and Benjamin chipped in nine.
Washington out hit the Ducks .500 to .070 and held the advantage in every statistical category, including kills, assists, digs and blocks.
The 9-9 conference mark is the best finish for the Huskies since the 1997 season when Washington finished Pac-10 play 13-5 and advanced to the Sweet 16.
The Huskies return to action next weekend when they compete in the University of Pacific Tournament Nov. 29-30 in Stockton, Calif.
