Bruin Swimming and Diving Takes Week Off Before Husky Invitational

In the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll, UCLA (4-1, 2-1 Pac-10) is ranked No. 12 in the nation. This week, the Bruins will take a break from competition.
Next up for the Bruins is the Husky Invitational in Federal Way, WA. Last year, the Bruins placed first.
The Bruins split their Pac-10 opening weekend, defeating the Arizona State Sun Devils 151-87 and losing to the Arizona Wildcats 160-140. UCLA is 4-1 overall, 2-1 in conference play.
Against Arizona State, the Bruins were led in the pool by junior Sara Platzer, who won both the 50 and 100 Free, and sophomore Jackie Lobdell, who won the 500 and 1000 Free. In the diving events, the Bruins had a 1-2-3 sweep on one-meter by Heidi Prosser, Paige Thompson and Regan Gosnell.
Against Arizona, Platzer again won the 50 and 100 Free. And, senior Gosnell won both the one- and three-meter.
National Letters of Intent
During the fall signing period, three recruits signed National Letters of Intent to join the Bruins.
Jeana Fuccillo (Lebanon, IL/Althoff Catholic HS), Katie Nelson (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA/Peninsula HS) and Amy Thurman (Orinda, CA/Miramonte HS) will enter as true freshman in fall 2003.
The Bruins will travel to Federal Way, WA to compete at the Husky Invitational December 5-8. Last year, the Bruins won the Husky Invitational
The next Bruin home meet will be Saturday, January 18, when UCLA will host the UC San Diego Tritons.
All Bruin home meets are held at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center located on the UCLA campus.
