WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Quarterback Carson Palmer of USC, defensive end Kai Ellis and kicker John Anderson, both of Washington, have been named Pac-10 Players of the Week in football.

Carson Palmer, a senior from Laguna Niguel, Calif., had a record-setting performance in leading USC to a 52-21 win at UCLA. Palmer completed 19 of 32 passes (.594) for 254 yards and four touchdowns, becoming the Pac-10 career passing leader with 11,090 total yards. Palmer started the game with seven straight completions for 128 yards and two scores. USC put up 468 yards of total offense (271 passing, 197 rushing), its seventh straight outing with 400-plus yards.

Kai Ellis, a senior from Kent, Wash., was named defensive player for making the big plays on defense in Washington's 29-26 upset win at No. 3-ranked Washington State in triple overtime. Ellis recorded 12 tackles, including eight solo, five tackles for loss and two sacks. He also caused three fumbles, recovering two. The Husky defense limited the Cougars to just 84 second-half yards, while coming from behind for the win.

Anderson, a senior from Boynton Beach, Fla., was good on five-of-eight field goal attempts in Washington's 29-26 upset win at third-ranked WSU, including three in each overtime period. Anderson hit a 49 yard field goal in the third overtime that proved to be the game winner and tied a school record of five made field goals in a game.

Others nominated for offensive player of the week honors were wide receiver Reggie Williams of Washington, quarterback Derek Anderson from Oregon State and tailback Joe Igber of Cal. Also nominated on defense were defensive ends Kenechi Udeze of USC and Tom Canada of Cal, along with linebacker Nick Barnett of Oregon State. Jemeel Powell of California was nominated for special teams play.
