Nnamani Tallies Match-High 19 Kills In 3-0 Win Over No. 13 Santa Clara

Stanford, Calif. - Sophomore outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani notched a match-high 19 kills as the fourth-ranked Stanford women's volleyball team swept No. 13 Santa Clara, 3-0, in its final regular-season match at Maples Pavilion. Game scores were 30-26, 30-21, 30-21.
The Cardinal improve to 27-4 overall while the Broncos drop to 24-6 on the year.
Senior Logan Tom added 16 kills, seven digs and two blocks while hitting .500 on the night. Junior Sara Mcgee had 11 kills and five blocks as well. Setter Anna Robinson chipped in 46 assists, eight digs and five blocks to the Cardinal effort.
Santa Clara was led by Becky Potter's 19 kills and 10 digs. Kelli Sousa had 42 assists and eight digs on the evening.
Game one remained close between the two teams as Santa Clara took a 15-14 lead at the media timeout. With the game tied at 19-all, Stanford put together three consecutive points to take the 21-19 lead. The Cardinal extended the lead to 27-23 on a block by Sara McGee and Anna Robinson. Another McGee/Robinson block put Stanford at game point at 29-24. The Broncos held off two game points before a Logan Tom kill ended the game at 30-26.
The Cardinal held a 15-11 advantage at the media timeout after a Tom kill. A five-point run put Stanford up 20-12 on a block by Sara McGee and Ogonna Nnamani. Santa Clara would cut the lead to four at 18-22 after a Stanford hitting error but the Cardinal would run off four consecutive points to go up 26-18 after a Sara Duke's kill. Stanford reached game point on a Nnamani kill and closed out game two on a dump by Anna Robinson at 30-21.
Stanford had a slim 15-14 lead at the media timeout after Ashley Ivy's 52nd service ace of the year. The Cardinal steadily pulled away taking the 22-17 lead on a Logan Tom kill. Stanford would find itself leading by seven at 27-20 after a Bronco hitting error. An Ogonna Nnamani kill put the Cardinal at game and match point leading 29-21. A block solo by Tom gave Stanford the 30-21 win.
Stanford now awaits the NCAA Tournament field announcement which will be televised on ESPNNEWS at 6 p.m. PT on Sunday, December 1.
