Volleyball To Face Colorado State In NCAA First Round

SEATTLE -- The Washington volleyball team (19-10, 9-9 Pac-10) will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to play in the Central Regional against host and No. 6 seed Hawaii, Colorado State and Western Kentucky in the first and second rounds of 2002 Division I Women's Volleyball Championships, Dec. 5-6. The Huskies are making their seventh postseason appearance overall and their first since the 1997 season when they advanced to the Sweet 16.
The Huskies were one of 33 teams to receive an at-large bid and join 31 automatic qualifiers to make up the 64-team field.
Washington will face Colorado State on Thursday, December 5 at 5:00 p.m. local time in the first round while Hawaii will take on Western Kentucky on December 5 at 7:30 p.m. The winners of the two matches will meet in the second round on Friday, December 6 at 7 p.m. with the winners advancing to regionals. All matches will take place in Stan Sheriff Center on the campus of Hawaii.
The Huskies are one of eight Pac-10 teams to receive a postseason bid including Stanford, Southern California, Arizona, UCLA, Washington State, Arizona State and California.
