Volleyball To Host First and Second Rounds Of NCAA Tournament In McKale Center

TUCSON, Ariz.- The Arizona volleyball team will serve as one of 16 host schools for the first and second rounds of the 2002 NCAA Volleyball Championship Tournament, the NCAA announced today.
The Wildcats (17-11 overall) earned a No. 10 seed in the pairings and will play host to the University of Texas-Arlington, a school Arizona beat 3-1 in its first match of the season. Joining the Wildcats and Mavericks in Tucson will be Indiana and Texas. Match times will be scheduled on Monday.
Coming off a Final Four appearance last season, this year marks the seventh consecutive season and the ninth season overall that the Wildcats will take part in the postseason championship tournament in 11 seasons under head coach David Rubio.
Arizona is 7-0 all-time in tournament play in matches played in McKale Center. The Wildcats last hosted the first and second rounds in the 2000 season and defeated Alabama A&M and Michigan to advance to the Sweet 16.
