Women's Basketball Rolls Past Idaho State, 67-48

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Brina Chaney's career-high 18 points led Oregon State's women's basketball team to a 67-48 victory against Idaho State University on Sunday afternoon.
Chaney was one of three Beaver players to reach double figures in scoring, knocking down 8-of-10 field goals and 2-of-3 free throws in the game. The 6-5 post also shared game-high rebounding honors with eight boards, including five on the offensive glass.
'Brina had a great game,' said OSU head coach Judy Spoelstra. 'We just couldn't get her the ball enough.'
Fellow post Hollye Chapman added 11 points, eight rebounds, and matched her career-best with four assists as the OSU posts dominated the smaller Idaho State lineup.
Sophomore guard Juleen Smith also reached double figures in scoring with 10 points and six rebounds. Smith tallied a career-high seven steals and dished out five assists.
With the victory Oregon State improves to 3-1 on the season while Idaho State drops to 1-1 overall.
The Beavers led from start to finish, jumping out to a 6-0 advantage in the opening five minutes as the Bengals committed five turnovers in the stretch and failed to score until the 14:11 mark.
Oregon State took a 35-22 lead into the locker room at the half. Idaho State scored four of the first six points of the second frame to narrow the margin to 11 points (37-26), but would get no closer the rest of the way.
ISU had 28 turnovers on the day and the Beavers picked up 16 steals.
'I'm proud of our team,' said Spoelstra. 'We played tough and tenacious defense.'OSU finished with a 41-34 rebounding advantage, including a 19-9 edge on the offensive glass.
Oregon State hits the road to face San Jose State University on Wednesday. The Beavers and Spartans take the court at 7 p.m.
