Seven Women's Soccer Student-Athletes Tabbed For Pac-10 Academic Recognition

Oregon State women's soccer student-athletes Morgan Crabtree, Courtney Carter, Lindsey Beem, Whitney Horn, Katie Henderson, Mandy Melendez, and Jillian Nicks were among those named to Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic teams, commissioner Tom Hansen announced Wednesday.
Crabtree was named to the first team, Courtney Carter to the second team, and Beem, Horn, Henderson, Melendez, and Nicks received honorable mention.
For Crabtree, a senior midfielder from Eugene, Ore., it was her second consecutive first team selection and third honor overall; she was a second team choice as a sophomore. Crabtree was also selected to the Verizon Academic All-Region first team this year. She maintains a 3.83 grade-point average and majors in Philosophy.
A junior forward/midfielder from West Linn, Ore., Carter earned her second consecutive spot on the second team, posting a 3.57 GPA in Business while leading the team in points with 19. Carter, as well as Crabtree, was a Verizon first-team Academic All-Region pick.
Beem earned her first academic recognition with her honorable mention. Beem is a sophomore midfielder from Vancouver, Wash., and carries a 3.18 GPA as a Human Development and Family Science major.
For Henderson, the honorable mention was the third of her career. A Human Development and Family Sciences major, she maintains a 3.34 GPA. The senior forward from Littleton, Colo., finished her OSU career fourth on the school's all-time points list, and was a Verizon second-team Academic All-Region choice.
Horn, a senior defender from Claremont, Calif., earned her first academic recognition by posting a 3.07 GPA while majoring in Health Promotion.
Melendez, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., earned her second consecutive honorable mention. A senior defender, she majors in Liberal Arts and carries a 3.38 GPA.
As a sophomore midfielder, Nicks, of Issaquah, Wash., accumulated a 3.01 GPA and majors in Exercise and Sport Science.
To be eligible, student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 GPA, be a starter or significant contributor, and be at least a sophomore.
