Alex Lim Breaks Another Record at Texas Invitational

Junior Alex Lim set another Texas Invitational record, winning the 100-yard backstroke with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 46.83. The time broke Neil Walker's record of 47.45, set in 1996. The No. 5 University of California's men's swimming team fell to second place after the second day of competition at the Texas Invitation held in Austin, Texas. Cal finished Friday with 451.50 points to No. 3 Texas' 504 points. The event features 11 teams.
Cal posted one other win on the evening as the squad of Lim, freshmen Rick Barbosa and Michael Cavic and sophomore Duje Draganja won the 200-yard medley relay with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:27.08.
Other Golden Bears posting NCAA consideration times included junior Jeff Natalizio (49.11) and Cavic (48.05) in the 100 back. Barbosa (54.50) and sophomore Caleb Rowe (55.74) notched NCAA consideration times in the 100 breast, while freshman Miguel Molina (3:55.36) and sophomore John Dorr (3:53.12) swam NCAA 'B' times in the 400 IM. Senior Joe Bruckart swam a 1:38.53 NCAA consideration time in the 200-yard freestyle.
The Texas Invitational concludes tomorrow, Sat., Dec. 7th, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. CT and the finals beginning at 6 p.m. CT. For complete results, visit www.texassports.com.
