Dec. 6, 2002

After dominating the 500y free on opening night, USC owned the 400y IM on the second night of the Texas Invitational on Friday (Dec. 6) in Austin.

Sophomore Kaitlin Sandeno (4:10.06) and senior Michala Kwasny (4:11.84) finished 1-2 on the women's side while senior Erik Vendt (3:41.49) and freshman Ous Mellouli (3:46.30) did the same in the men's race. All four times are NCAA automatic qualifying performances.

Sandeno made another finals appearance on Friday, taking fourth in the 100y back, her 55.13 another NCAA automatic. Kwasny also finalled again, the other coming with an eighth in the 200y free. She swam a 1:51.13 in the finals, but her 1:49.43 in prelims was an NCAA consideration mark. Junior Jana Krohn was sixth in the event (1:48.74, NCAA consideration).

Freshman Kammy Miller posted a third in the 100y breast (1:02.23, NCAA consideration) while sophomore Alice Orr was seventh (1:04.21). Mihaly Flaskay, on the men's side, was third in the event (54.37, NCAA consideration).
