Insight Bowl Selects Oregon State

Corvallis, Ore. - A battle between 8-4 teams will take place Thurs., Dec. 26 when the Oregon State University Beavers play the University of Pittsburgh Panthers in the Insight Bowl at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix.
The Panthers enter the game coming off two narrow losses, Nov. 30 to West Virginia (24-17), and Nov. 21 at defending national champion Miami (28-21). Pittsburgh finished third in the Big East Conference, and for the season posted victories over Ohio, Alabama-Birmingham, Rutgers, Toledo, Syracuse, Boston College, Virginia Tech, and Temple. The team's two other losses came to Texas A&M and Notre Dame. The four losses were by a combined 24 points.
Oregon State has won four of its last five games, and concluded the year tied for fourth in the Pac-10 Conference with UCLA, California, and Washington. This will be the second time in three years the Beavers have played in the Desert in postseason, Oregon State defeated Notre Dame 41-9 in the 2000 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
