Richardson Third in U.S. Heptathlon Rankings

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State senior Ellannee Richardson is the third best heptathlete in the United States, according to the latest world and U.S. rankings listed in Track & Field News.

The December 2002 issue of Track & Field News lists Shelia Burrell as the top heptathlete in the United States followed by DeDee Nathan. Richardson is third and the top collegian.

Richardson, a redshirt senior from Gladstone, Ore., is a three-time All-American and two-time Pacific-10 Conference champion in the heptathlon. Richardson finished second at the 2002 NCAA Championships with a score of 5,709 points. She holds the WSU school record in the heptathlon of 5,821 points, set last year.

Carolina Kluft from Sweden tops the world heptathlon list with Shelia Burrell third and the only American among the top 10.
