Men's Basketball Falls To Rams

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Matt Nelson had 18 points and Brian Greene added15 points and eight rebounds as Colorado State defeated Washington State 90-79on Saturday.

Quantone Smith and Matt Williams each had 13 points off the bench forColorado State (8-2). CSU was 32-for-47 on free throws, compared with 14-for-23for Washington State.

Marcus Moore had 20 points for Washington State (3-4), 18 in the secondhalf. Milton Riley, Thomas Kelati and Justin Kordsmeier had 12 points each forWashington State, which has lost four of its last five.

Colorado State led by as much as 56-36 after Nelson tipped in his own miss.Moore brought Washington State back, scoring nine points in a 10-0 run thatmade it 77-76 with 5:22 left.

Birley had a breakaway layup after a steal from Moore and then set up alayup by Williams, giving CSU an 81-76 lead with 3:17 left.

Riley then missed two free throws and Moore missed three straight shots forWashington State.

Birley and Greene sealed the game with two free throws each.

CSU is undefeated at home and has won the last eight meetings between thetwo teams, last losing to Washington State in 1946.
