Gymnasts Welcome Old Mill Center Children To The Gym.
Dec. 16, 2002
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Children from the Old Mill Center spent an hour with the Oregon State gymnastics team at the Valley Gymnastics Center on Monday.
Approximately 30 kids between the ages of three and five met the Beavers and then participated in a variety of activities in the gym.
'It was very touching and very heartwarming. To see the smiles on their faces and watch them run around was very rewarding,' said OSU freshman Chrissy Lamun, who helped the kids run and jump through a series of hoops. 'I love working with kids, and it was great to see these kids get this opportunity.'
Gymnasts were positioned throughout the gym at several stations. Some gymnasts helped the kids walk on the balance beam, while others gave the children a chance to swing on the low bars. Others watched as kids jumped into a pit full of foam blocks, and the kids also got the opportunity to jump onto the springboard. Another group of gymnasts helped kids go through an obstacle course that included a series of climbing and sliding onto a series of mats.
The Beavers invite the Old Mill Center students to the gym on an annual basis.
