Sun Devil Wrestling Announces Time Change For Battle of Arizona
Dec. 20, 2002
TEMPE, Ariz. - The triangular wrestling duals between No. 7 Arizona State, Embry-Riddle and Pima College, originally scheduled for Dec. 28 have been changed, Thom Otiz, ASU head coach, announced Friday. The duals will now be held one day later, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. and will take place at Sunnyside High School in Tucson. The change was made to accommodate travel concerns for Embry-Riddle.
The duals will see the Sun Devils compete at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., though their opponent for each match has not yet been decided. Embry-Riddle and Pima will meet at 2:30 p.m.
The duals also will provide a chance for a trio of Sun Devils to wrestle in their hometown. Senior Eric Larkin and sophomore Evan Larkin, both alumnus of Sunnyside High School, and junior Nick Frost, a Salpointe Catholic graduate, will be in the starting lineups for the Sun Devils Sunday.
ASU will be returning to action following the holiday break and a third-place showing at the Reno Tournament of Champions (Thursday, Dec. 19). The Sun Devils will return to dual action inside Wells Fargo Arena Jan. 5 when they play host to the Sun Devil Duals. ASU will face Lock Haven, Embry-Riddle and No. 3 Minnesota with matches slated to begin at Noon, 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
