Parrish Leaves Women's Basketball Team for Medical Reasons

Dec. 24, 2002

EUGENE, Ore. - University of Oregon women's basketball sophomore Amy Parrish has left the team because of medical reasons, second-year coach Bev Smith announced Tuesday.

'Amy's departure from the program is based on her current physical condition, which makes it difficult for her to meet the performance standards of collegiate basketball,' said Dr. Robert Crist, the school's director of athletic medicine.

Parrish, a 6-foot-2 forward from Hanford, Calif., played in four games this season, averaging 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. As a freshman, she averaged 1.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in 25 contests.
