PULLMAN, Wash. --- The Washington State soccer team celebrated its run to the NCAA Tournament Saturday night, handing out awards and honoring two seniors at the squad's annual banquet.
'After a time of reflection, the whole team, the staff, the players, and our supporters got together to congratulate the team on its unprecedented success, thus far,' said Head Coach Dan Tobias, who earned Pac-10 Coach of the Year this season. 'We will truly miss our two seniors. Katrina Stroh and Niki Ironside gave their hearts and souls to Washington State University and the soccer program.'
Kim Morgan and Shay Hobby were named co-most valuable players. Morgan scored 15 points on six goals and three assists while consistently providing a boost for WSU in the midfield. Hobby spearheaded a defense that allowed just 22 goals in 20 matches. Hobby was also named defensive player of the year.
Junior Nicole Wilcox collected offensive most valuable player honors after scoring a team-high 24 points in just her first year with the program.
