Zaher Named Soccer America Freshman All-American

Former Oregon State men's soccer player Joe Zaher was named to the Soccer America Freshman All-American team, adding to the list of accolades for the late OSU midfielder. Zaher died Dec. 1 as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.

Zaher, an attacking midfielder from Las Vegas, was one of 12 freshman student-athletes selected to the team.

The Pacific-10 Conference Freshman of the Year, Zaher was recently selected to the College Soccer News Freshman All-America first team as well.

The second-team All-Pac-10 player is the all-time leading freshman scorer at Oregon State, and finished the regular season first in the conference in game-winning goals (4), second in goals (10), third in points (25) and shots (51), and seventh in assists (5). Zaher was also a NSCAA third-team all-region selection.
