Men's Tennis Rolls To Sixth-Straight Win, Defeating North Carolina 6-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 13 Washington men's tennis (6-0) rolled to its sixth-straight victory, defeating No. 21 North Carolina, 6-1, at the Cone-Kenfield Indoor Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C., Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies clinched the doubles point and won five of the six singles matches to take care of the Tar Heels. Senior Ari Strasberg, playing in the No. 3 singles position, clinched the match with his 7-6 (4), 7-5 win over North Carolina's Andy Metzler. Senior Matt Hanlin, ranked 11th in the nation, defeated Trystan Meniane, ranked 17th, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 in No. 1 singles. Sophomore Alex Vlaski, ranked fifth, bounced back from a loss in the first set to post a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win over 61st-ranked Nicholas Monroe.
Hanlin and senior Dillon Ruby defeated Archer and Daniel Pinchbeck 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, while Palmanshofer and Scharler paired to beat Boyd and Metzler, 8-6. UW's No. 1 doubles tandem of Strasberg and Vlaski fell to Meniane and Monroe, 9-7.
The Huskies return home this week to host the Great Northwest Shootout, Saturday, Feb. 15, through Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. Participating in the event will by Clemson, San Diego State and Tulane.
