No. 6 Women's Tennis Remain Undefeated After Win Over the University of San Diego Toreros.
Feb. 9, 2003
Tempe, AZ- The Arizona State Women's Tennis team walked away with yet another flawless victory over the USD Toreros Sunday afternoon with a faultless score of 7-0.
The Sun Devils record advances to a perfect 4-0, with their first Pac-10 Conference match of the season looming ahead next week.
The Devils began and finished the day the same way: impeccable.
The doubles teams started off strong with the #37-ranked team of Cindy Sureephong and Mhairi Brown continued their route to success by smoothly defeating USD's Jennifer Brown and Lauren Kazarian 8-3.
ASU also found success in the following doubles matches, following suit and securing the doubles point by sweeping all three matches.
In singles play, the Devils found a similar story to doubles, winning each match.
The Toreros played well, with Catherine Heppell giving Mhairi Brown a great match, in the end, though Brown pulled through and defeated the Torero 6-3, 7-5.
The Sun Devils will continue their stretch of home matches and begin Pac-10 play next weekend against the No. 49 Oregon Ducks, who have a winning streak of five straight matches.
The 5-1 Ducks will roll into Tempe on February 15 to face the Devils at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe at 12:00 p.m.
